This week in our “Alphabet Adventure” we traveled through the letter “M”. Letter “M” provided so many opportunities for different activities!
If you are just now joining us on our “Alphabet Adventure”, you can read all about what it is in the post below—>
For this week we focused on: magnets!
During Alphabet Adventures, every week needs to include these things:
1. Craft
2. Food
3. Outing
4. Books/Activities
5. Sensory activity
I also decided that every week we are going to do a hand print craft that we will eventually turn into an “ABC” book!
Here is our 13th page!

Craft
For our crafts this week we made a mouse, mushroom, acorn moths, a moon, and a letter m mosaic
Mouse

I have noticed that paper plates are becoming a must have item in my craft supplies! Started with the usually half of a paper plate and let Logan color the plate with “mouse colors”. I gave Logan a black and brown paint stick and let him color the paper plate. I then helped him attach the tail, ears, eyes, nose and wiskers. Logan loved the finished product.
Mushroom

Logan has these paint dotters down, look at that double handed method! Again, i turned the top of the mushroom towards him so he primarily painted the top

Acorn Moths

We have been collectin acorns like crazy! which i dont mind. Logan thinks they are fun little treasures. And they will definitely come in handy for our theme for “N” week next week. We also have a lot of cardboard from our amazon purchases. So we decided to make some little moths.
Moon

This one turned out so cool i think! I had Logan paint with a crumpled up piece of foil. The crumpled foil created cool “Craters” on the moon until logan repeatedly painted the one spot and pushed hard on the foil. This pressure made the foil become flat on the side he was painting with so it turned more into a flat stamp instead of a bumpy surface. I’m sure you can tell the spot he really wanted to paint over and over 😉 We just call that spot the dark side of the moon.
Then cut a hole out of a piece of black construction paper and glued it over the top.

Letter “M” Mosaic

Always looking for an excuse to do some gluing and fine motor skill practice! This type of project is always a hit with Logan. I will ask him, “Do you want to do a gluing project?” and he will usually respond ethusiastically and run up to his tower.
Food
For our food this week, we made apple muffins!

Logan’s rating-8/10. Muffins-yes. Apples-yes. Win win. Logan liked these better the first day when they were fresh out of the oven
Outing
For “M” week, a museum would have been a great idea! We have a couple of museums saved for other weeks, so we decided to choose another option. One of our favorite parks was under repair the past couple weeks and it just opened back up again this week!
For ‘M’ week we decided to go to M. Park and go through the maze! (name of park not included for privacy).

We saw a bunch of mama turkeys too!

Activities
There ended up being SO many activities in our daily life that already started with “M”! My good friend reminded me that he’s with mama all the time, so it’s always “m” week around here 😉
And of course we’re always MAKING MEMORIES
An activity that we did not do, but would be fun for older kiddos is called “Magic Milk”. If you google it, you will be able to find the instructions-its fun!
Some of our daily activities that I don’t have pictures for are
marker swords, getting the mail, jumping on mattress,
- Marker swords- putting crayons markers on top of each other and using them as swords. He runs around with them saying “hiyaaa!”
- Getting the mail- Logan loves to carry the mail on for us
- Jumping on his mattress– whenever I change his sheet, I put his mattress on the floor for him and he thinks it’s the best thing.
- Mixing & Making things in the kitchen
- Looking at things with our magnifying glass
- Talking to ourselves in the mirror
