This week we slowly traveled through the letter “I”. I say “slowly” because there really are not that many things that start with the letter “I” that is age appropriate for Logan. That’s ok, we still found some things. And the most important thing is that ice cream starts with the letter “I”! We can thank his Auntie Lynn for his love of ice cream 😉 she makes the best home made ice cream!
If you are just now joining us on our “Alphabet Adventure”, you can read all about what it is in the post below—>
For this week we focused on: ice cream!
During Alphabet Adventures, every week needs to include these things:
1. Craft
2. Food
3. Outing
4. Books/Activites
5. Sensory activity
I also decided that every week we are going to do a handprint craft that we will eventually turn into an “ABC” book!
Here is our ninth page!

Craft
For our crafts this week we did ice cream cone collage, made an igloo, and did some ice painting!
Ice cream cone collage

We have been trying to incorporate a lot more gluing activities because Logan LOVES it! The picture above shows how we have been going about these activities lately. I will hold the piece for him as he squeezes the glue on, then he sets down the glue bottle, picks up the piece of paper and places it on the larger paper.
For this project, I drew some ice cream cones on a piece of paper and then cut out some ice cream shapes out of construction paper. Logan did this whole project by himself and chose where every scoop of ice cream went.
He was SO proud of himself! He asked to put this project straight on the fridge when he was done! He was also so excited to show dad the next day!

Igloo

Since he liked the gluing project so much the last time, I decided we would make a collage igloo! It turned out very abstract 😉 but again, Logan did this all himself and he loved it. He even chose the placement for the door
Would have been cool to do this with cotton balls, but I wanted to use what we already had around the house
Ice Painting

I mixed food coloring and water and froze them with popsicle sticks. When they were frozen, we could take them out and use them to paint with. It was really cool, it look like watercolor paints!
The only downside was that because it was food coloring, it really stained if you got it on your hands.
Food/Outing
We did a two for one this week on the food and outing! Of course with the weather heating back up, we had to get some ice cream!
Logan was so excited! Mom got Rocky Road and Dad got mint chip, Logan got to have tastes of ours!

Logan’s rating-10/10 LOVES ice cream. Kept asking for more. Was surprised to find out I think he likes mint chip better than my rocky road.

Activites
White Board

I made these magnets out of a cardboard box and paint! Sticking with the theme of ice cream for the week, I wanted to make Logan some magnets to go with it
Ice Rescue

I wasn’t sure how this one was going to work out, or if his little wooden mallet would even do anything. Surprisingly, it worked really well and Logan loved it! Maybe because the animals were frozen inside the ice it wasn’t as structurally sound so it broke apart fairly easy when Logan hit it.
This kept him entertained for a while! Will definitely do it again
Sensory Activity
sensory bins are my absolute favorite
Theme- I is for ice cream
I’ve talked about how sometimes less is more. Well, that was definitely true with this sensory bin! I wasn’t sure if Logan was going to enjoy this or not because it was pretty plain (or so I thought).
This was Logan’s FAVORITE Sensory bin yet!

When I first introduced this bin to him, he played with it for easily 30 minutes non stop. He set up an ice cream party with all of his stuffed animals.

Sensory Bin– IKEA
Sensory bin filler- Pom Pom balls
