playdates & popsicles, two of my son’s favorite things….

….and he is my favorite thing. This site is dedicated to him and all of our adventures as we learn and grow together. Filled with the little moments that become big memories

Alphabet Adventures: Letter H

This week in our “Alphabet Adventure” we travelled through the letter “h”! I have decided to take a bit of a turn in the adventure and challenge myself to spend a minimal amount of money each week! This has allowed me to really dig through his toys/activities he already has and find cost effective outings.

If you are just now joining us on our “Alphabet Adventure”, you can read all about what it is in the post below—>

Alphabet Adventures

For this week we focused on: honey bee and heart

During Alphabet Adventures, every week needs to include these things:

1. Craft

2. Food

3. Outing

4. Books/Activites

5. Sensory activity

I also decided that every week we are going to do a handprint craft that we will eventually turn into an “ABC” book!

Here is our eighth page!

Craft

For our crafts this week we did heart stamping, heart magnets, honeycomb, a handprint heart and a family handprint.

Heart Stamping

Took an old cardboard tube from a roll of paper towels and cut about 1/3 off (saved the other 2/3 for the honeycomb project). Bent and taped it to form a heart! Provided Logan with some colors and let him stamp his little heart out

Heart Magnets

For these magnets we did the bag finger painting once again! He is doing better with this activity but still prefers to paint with an actual paint brush. I then cut hearts out and put magnets on the back!

Honeycomb

This was a gluing activity that was a great fine motor activity! I cut the remaining paper towel roll and provided him with a paper plate with some liquid glue on it. He was able to dip the end of the roll on the glue and place it on the page.

Full disclosure- I did direct him where to place the circles so it somewhat resembles a honeycomb 😉

Handprint Heart

Taped off a heart on a piece of canvas and filled the inside with different color handprints! Once you pulled off the tape it left a perfect heart! The final product is a gift, so I left that photo off 😉

Family Handprint

This craft is now permanently on a shelf in our house, I love it!

Food

The food of the week was honey sticks! Picked these up from our local farmers market. I’ve heard that eating honey sticks from local sources can help with your allergies because you are kind of “micro dosing” the pollen into your system. Who knows if it’s true or not 🤷🏼‍♀️

Logan’s rating-9/10 loved the honey sticks! Immediately wanted more.

Outing

For H week we decided to go for a hike! Logan had a hiking backpack that we have been putting him in since he was a baby and he actually loves it!

James and I have both worn him, but I much prefer when James wear him 😉

We are so fortunate to live in an area that offers a plethora of outdoor activities- hiking included! It used to be one of mine and James’ favorite things to do when we were dating. I would love to take Logan on an overnight backpacking trip one day!

Books/Activites

Magnatile Heart

We haven’t included the magnatiles into our toy rotation lately, so I decided to bring these back out and Logan has been loving them all week. His favorite thing, like most toddlers I’m sure, is to have us build up a tower so he can knock it down.

Hop Scotch

This activity (and hide and seek below) were adorable to watch him learn.

Hide and Seek

I do not have a picture of us playing hide and seek, but I’m sure most of you know what it is. We have tried to teach Logan how to play this game before but it never really clicked. This time, it totally clicked and he immediately asked for “more!!” James and I took turns hiding, while the other one did the seeking with Logan.

Seeing his reaction the first time we found dada is definitely a moment I’m saving in my memory banks.

Hammer Toy

Another one of his activities that was introduced back into the toy rotation this week was his hammer toy!

Hail

Logan got to experience his first hail storm! He loves to eat ice, so having ice fall from the sky that he could eat with such a surprise to him! Thanks for the picture Grandma!🥰

Books

Sensory Activity
