Welcome to the seventh week of our alphabet adventures! This week we traveled through letter “g”. Some weeks are more challenging than others to think of ideas for, but that’s ok!
If you are just now joining us on our “Alphabet Adventure”, you can read all about what it is in the post below—>
For this week we focused on: garden and gross motor skills
During Alphabet Adventures, every week needs to include these things:
1. Craft
2. Food
3. Outing
4. Books/Activites
5. Sensory activity
I also decided that every week we are going to do a handprint craft that we will eventually turn into an “ABC” book!
Here is our seventh page!

Craft
For our crafts this week we did grape stamping, painted some gumball machines, hand print ghosts and did some stained glass
Grape Stamping

I’m a big believer that at this age children learn art through the process. (if you’ve been reading along for a while, I’ve talked about process art a lot). However, there are times when you could do a little bit more structured art. This is one of those those times that I challenged Logan to sit where I had drawn the circles.
As you could see by the picture, he did pretty well!
Gumball Machine

Unlike the craft above, this was not as structured. I still encouraged him to stay within the circles of the gumball machine, but he had a larger area to work with.
I drew this quickly when I needed an activity for him to do while I finished cooking dinner.
Hand Print Ghosts

With the cooler weather, I have gotten a small taste of fall! Which is so funny to say because it is still been in the 90s, but I’m just too excited! I will definitely be saving these little handprint ghosts for our Halloween decorations.
Stained Glass

This activity would be super cool if you had an older child who could paint each section separately. Logan, like any toddler, wanted to see what color the paints made when they all mixed together. It still looked really cool when I put it in front of the window!

Grandma + Grandpa Card
Logan also made a card for his grandma and grandpa! He picked out the colors. He gave it to them with his present from last week.

Food
The food of the week was garlic bread! My first time making bread, it ended up being really good!

Logan’s rating-6/10 only liked it when it was fresh and warm out of the oven. Did not eat it on day two.
Outing
For G week’s outing we stuck with the garden theme! Both of these activities were free to do, which is always a plus!
There is a town next to us that starts with “G” and they have a beautiful garden to walk through! They also have birds, which is a plus for Logan!

We then went to our local Green Acres Garden Center! Which Logan usually loves to walk around in, but today he was more interested in the rocks that were between the plants. We did find a new plant to add to our collection though!

Books/Activites
This was the first week in California where the weather was under 100 degrees in what feels like forever, so I made the decision that we would be introducing no new toys/activities to his toy rotation this week. Instead, we would be focusing on outdoor play and gross motor skills! Soaking up the beautiful weather was just what we needed this week
Giraffe Spots

For this activity, I drew a giraffe out of chalk and left off the spots. I gave Logan a cup of water and some paint brushes and let him paint the spots on the giraffe with the paintbrush.
Golf

another dollar store win! Logan loves this little golf set, he tried to take it to bed with him the first day.
Gross Motor Activites
Some of the gross motor skills we practiced this week were-
- Climbing on his tower
- Throwing, kicking and catching balls (very into sports equipment right now)
- Jumping in the jump house (he started doing 180s)
- Hanging on bars
- Crawling through a tunnel
- Riding his balance bike
Just to name a few!
Books

Sensory Activity
sensory bins are my absolute favorite
Theme- G is for garden

Once again, Logan loved the scooping and pouring with this sensory bin. He also got really into “planting” the flowers and fake food.
Is favorite tool to use was the rake and he actually started saying “rake, rake, rake” as he raked the beans
Sensory Bin– IKEA
Sensory bin filler- black beans
